Russia 03:11
I get this feeling when I walk out the door- the kind of feeling you get at the end 70's, 80's, 90's, 2000, it's the Russian roulette Everything falls into place In this place distant trends echo- it's just gone, but it will come back You can't miss something that was never there You can't hold something that could never wear I would like to go to Russia Nothing new under the sun, but the sun is burning the planet, Cosmonauts, saints fly in despair, security guards jump in the air! I would like to go to Russia You spend much more if you work You poison yourself if you eat out Russian roulette spinning the world- let's dance and dine like we just don't care. I would like to go to Russia Go spin the roulette round and round- till life's ahead in the queue if you believe it- it will be you, it will be you, it will be you. Bread and vodka, water and air- it stoops all the time, nobody cares, Dance the Polka out the door, people are people- But not, anymore.

Steel eyes under fake ray ban specs One hand on the wheel, the other on the decks It won’t be too long till we get to the movie We don't want to get out, dyke riding's so groovy Down to the waste, heavy baggie Jeans chains on your arm, signet pinkie ring, Adidas shoes, Fred Perry shirt Hello girls did you get it yet? words are unknown, all the rest seems fine but you know what I know, it's a matter of time they come and they go and the fabulous mountain, in a fabulous day standing so strong in a fabulous way it's time for the land to say what she wants the mind that came up with this mess and you want to admit that your actions are wrong but the pain of admission is worst

about

Recently I re-listened to Virtual Leisure, and it reminded of the raw energy and power in the lyrics and sounds inspired by events happening at the time, tapping into the zeitgeist of the early 2000’s art-music scene. At the time I wrote protest songs, they were more like utopian protest songs, with themes around cyber war-games and destruction of old worlds in the hope of newfound possibilities- in Virtual Leisure (track 09) and Moon Boom (track 05), with themes around nature’s destruction in the age of capitalism in Wise Man (track 12) and ‘Everyone dances to his own personal Boom Boom' highlighting the Dada manifesto sentence in the context of Neoliberalism -Boom Boom (track 6), also about state corruption -at the time, oligarchs laundering stolen fortunes through the west's art, politics and football- in Russia (track 1) not all the songs were a protest, some were ironic and some positive songs about friendship and queerness- in Ikea (track 3) and in Dyke Rider (Track 10)…
I am now reminded how affirmative and direct we were, not hesitating to say what we felt with a sense of criticality and urgency, as we felt our way into a new millennium.
As the songs aged, the themes have become more urgent and what was utopia became a reality, in a way I feel that the songs sound more relevant now.
